Audubon Institute of Nature Ticket

Audubon Nature Institute is a not-for-profit organisation that operates a family of museums and parks dedicated to nature. Audubon Aquarium of the Americas & Zoo Information
Smoking Policy
For the safety and health of all patrons, our staff and the animals in our stewardship, smoking is only permitted in designated areas of the Aquarium and Zoo. Please refer to the signage throughout the Aquarium and Zoo or ask one of the staff members for assistance.

Visitor Attire for all Audubon Nature Institute Facilities
For the safety and health of all patrons, all visitors to the Audubon Zoo, Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, Audubon Louisiana Nature Center, and Entergy IMAX® Theatre are required to wear shoes and shirts at all times. As a courtesy to others, modest dress is expected of all guests and revealing or offensive clothes are not considered appropriate. Guests wearing articles of clothing containing obscenities, vulgarities, or profanities will be asked to change their clothing or wear their shirts turned inside out. Admission may be denied if clothing is deemed inappropriate for the family atmosphere. Some language, gestures, and suggestive art on apparel may be considered inappropriate. The Audubon Park Commission reserves the right to address these issues with all guests and all clothing is subject to management review and discretion. The cooperation of patrons is greatly appreciated.

Audubon Aquarium of the Americas Hours of Operation
Tuesday through Sunday
(closed Monday) - 10:00 to 17:00.
The Aquarium will be open July 3 and July 4 from 10:00 to 17:00.
The Aquarium will be closed Mardi Gras day 
and Christmas day.

Audubon Zoo Hours of Operation
Tuesday - Friday -
10:00 to 16:00.
Saturday and Sunday - 10:00 to 17:00.
Please note that the Zoo will be closed for Mardi Gras day, the first Friday in May, Thanksgiving day and Christmas day.

How to Get There

Audubon Aquarium of the Americas Location:
Canal Street at the River

Directions from the West:
Via Interstate 10 East, exit at Poydras Street (Exit 234B). Continue on Poydras approximately 1 mile. Turn left on Tchoupitoulas Street, then right on Canal Street. The Aquarium/IMAX® is located at the foot of Canal Street at the Mississippi River.

Directions from the East:
Via Interstate 10 West, exit at Canal/Superdome (exit 235B), turning right onto Canal. The Aquarium/IMAX® is located at the foot of Canal Street at the Mississippi River.

Audubon Zoo Location:
6500 Magazine Street
New Orleans, Louisiana 70118

Directions from the West or East:
Via Interstate 10, exit at Carrollton Avenue (Exit 232) heading south. Cross CLAIBORNE and ST. CHARLES avenues and take a LEFT on LEAKE AVE (also called RIVER ROAD). Past the stop sign at BROADWAY and LEAKE AVE will turn into MAGAZINE STREET at a sharp curve to the left. The Zoo will be immediately on the RIGHT. Turn at the lions and follow Entergy Boulevard to the Zoo.

Directions from downtown New Orleans:
Take MAGAZINE STREET South, away from the French Quarter approximately six miles. (Cross Louisiana, Napoleon and Nashville avenues.) You’ll see Audubon Park on your right and Audubon Zoo will be on your left. Turn at the lions and follow Entergy Boulevard to the Zoo.

Directions from the Westbank:
Take the Crescent City Connection and exit at Camp Street. Turn right onto Magazine Street and drive down Magazine Street for about five miles. The Zoo will be on the left and Audubon Park will be on your right. Turn at the lions and follow Entergy Boulevard to the Zoo.

Directions from New Orleans East, Slidell and Mississippi Gulf Coast Areas: 
From I-10 West, exit at South Claiborne Avenue. Take South Claiborne about five miles to Broadway. turn left onto Broadway and continue to its end (stop sign at Leake Ave.) Turn left onto Leake Ave. (also called River Road) which curves to the left into Magazine Street. The Zoo will be on the RIGHT. Turn at the lions and follow Entergy Boulevard to the Zoo.

Directions from Metairie, Kenner, Baton Rouge Areas: 
From I-10 East, exit at South Carrollton Avenue. Take South Carrollton (North) to its end at the levee and turn left onto Leake Ave. (also called River Road) which curves to the left into Magazine Street. The Zoo will be on the RIGHT. Turn at the lions and follow Entergy Boulevard to the Zoo.

Directions from Jefferson Highway (Huey P. Long Bridge, Harvey, Elmwood) Areas: 
From the Huey P. Long bridge turn right onto Jefferson Highway. Follow Jefferson Highway about five miles until it become South Carrollton Avenue. Take South Carrollton (North) to its end at the levee and turn left onto Leake Ave. (also called River Road) which curves to the left into Magazine Street. The Zoo will be on the RIGHT. Turn at the lions and follow Entergy Boulevard to the Zoo

When visiting the Aquarium or IMAX theater, parking is $4 (plus tax) for up to 4 hours at the World Trade Center lot, Hilton Whale Wall lot and Hilton Riverside lot.

Wheelchair Rentals

Wheelchair rentals are free at the Aquarium for guests with a license/I.D. as deposit. You may pick up the wheelchairs at the information desk in the entrance lobby.

Audubon Zoo Facilities
Wagon, Wheelchair and Stroller Rentals
Wheelchairs as well as wagons and strollers for childern are available for rental at the Information Booth just inside the front gate.
Wheelchairs: $8, Strollers: $10 and Wagons (fitting 2 children): $12
