Information

You start the day across the chalk downs of Hampshire to Winchester, a delightful city that basks in an atmosphere of beauty, antiquity and tranquility! You'll see the mighty 11th century Winchester Cathedral. Winchester was once a major fortification against the Vikings and King Alfred the Great who was buried at Winchester in 899, and is commemorated in a magnificent statue in the city centre.

After your short visit to Winchester we head to Stonehenge. Situated on Salisbury Plain, Stonehenge is a unique, prehistoric World Heritage Site that is surrounded by ancient burial mounds. Who were the people who built it? Why did they build it? Where did the stones come from? How were they transported and erected at the site? The 5000-year old mystery of Stonehenge confounds the experts even today, and will certainly provide you with plenty of stimulating thoughts as you wander round this ancient site.

Surrounded by extinct volcanic hills and situated on a bend of the River Avon, the city of Bath enjoys a beautiful setting in the West of England. On arrival, your tour of Bath starts with a walking tour of this beautiful city and your guide will show you some of the buildings for which Bath is famous. This includes the Royal Crescent, The Circus, Pulteney Bridge, a replica medieval construction complete with shops, which spans the River Avon next to an impressive weir, and the spectacular Bath Abbey.

You will visit the Roman Baths and Temple ruins, and afterwards visit the Georgian Pump Room – built for the purpose of drinking the local mineral waters. Why not try some!
