Leeds Castle - This full day tour first visits Leeds Castle surrounded by 500 acres of parkland and gardens, set in the middle of a natural lake. The Castle was described by Lord Conway as ‘The loveliest castle in the world’. Spanning the centuries, it has had many lady owners so is now sometimes referred to as the ‘Ladies Castle’. There will be time to explore the castle and grounds where you will find the ‘Lady Baillie Garden' with views over the lake, an aviary and maze.
Canterbury Cathedral - This is the most important church within the worldwide Anglican faith. You will be amazed by its stunning architecture, dating back over 900 years. The central ‘Bell Harry Tower’ dates back to the 12th Century, and the crypt to the 11th Century. It is here where your guide will tell the story of the shocking murder of Archbishop Thomas Beckett in 1170.
There will be time in Canterbury to explore the narrow streets and have lunch.
Afternoon tea - En route to Dover we will stop in a village pub. The original building dates back to 1645. A more recent claim to fame is that it is featured in the film "Battle of Britain". In the bar is an area dedicated to the Battle of Britain pilots, with memorabilia and photos adorning the walls.
Finally, to Dover to see the famous white chalk cliffs and Dover Castle, overlooking the busy harbour and the English Channel.
