By car:
The palace is located on the A308 and is well signposted from all the major local roads; drivers should follow the brown tourist attraction road signs. From the M25 take either exit 10 on to the A307 or exit 12 on to the A308. The palace is also accessible via the A3 and then the A309.

By train:
South West Trains run services direct from London Waterloo to Hampton Court. The journey takes only 35 minutes and the palace is a 2-minute walk across the bridge from the station. The train service passes through Wimbledon station, where the London Underground District Line begins. Hampton Court is in Travel Zone 6 and train time are as follows:

Waterloo to Hampton Court:
Monday-Saturday at 06 and 36 minutes past the hour
Sunday at 27 and 57 minutes past the hour

Hampton Court to Waterloo:
Monday-Saturday at 24 and 54 minutes past the hour
Sunday at 05 and 35 minutes past the hour

Trains also call at Vauxhall, Clapham J unction, Earlsfield, Wimbledon, Raynes Park, New Malden, Berrylands, Surbiton and Thames Ditton. 

By bus:

R68 - From Kew, Richmond, Twickenham
Routes 416 and 513 have a very limited service. The 416 operates twice a day Mondays to Fridays only and the 513 about three times a day on Mondays to Saturdays.

From Richmond station (District Line and South West Trains) take the R68 bus and from Hounslow East (Piccadilly Line) take the 111 bus.

*these services accept LT cards, bus passes, Travelcards, Freedom Passes and Saver Tickets.

By riverboat:
Riverboats run in the summer from Westminster, Richmond upon Thames and Kingston upon Thames. The journey from Westminster can take up to 4 hours, depending on the tides.

Refreshments:
If the Tudor Kitchens stimulate your appetite, pop into the Privy Kitchen Coffee Shop nearby for tea, coffee, pastries or a light lunch.

The Tiltyard Café in the palace gardens has a coffee bar, licensed buffet restaurant and outside terrace. This light and airy café offers a range of hot and cold drinks, a wide selection of sandwiches, salad lunches and hot meals. The Tiltyard is accessible to wheelchair users and has an accessible toilet.

If you need refreshing after getting lost in the Maze, there are two ice-cream kiosks in the gardens that are open in the summer months.

Picnic areas:

Inside the palace, visitors may picnic on the seats in Clock Court, Fountain Court and Chapel Court. No food or drink may be consumed inside the State Apartments or on the grass in Base Court.

In the gardens, visitors may sit and picnic on any of the benches and on the grass around the Tiltyard Café. However, the preferred picnic area is the 20th-Century Garden, where there are picnic tables.

The Barrack Block Shop:

Located in the former palace barracks, this spacious shop offers an extensive range of gifts from china to children's stationery as well as guidebooks and postcards. You do not need a palace ticket to visit the Barrack Block Shop.

The Garden Shop:

This delightful shop overlooks the gardens on the East Front of the palace. As its name suggests, it has a selection of garden-themed merchandise including books and terracotta garden accessories.

The Base Court Shop:

The Base Court Shop is located between Base Court and Clock Court (where the famous Astronomical Clock can be found). The clock features on some of the gifts available here, including a range of china and silk scarves.

The Tudor Kitchens Shop:

Situated adjacent to the Tudor Wine Cellar, this shop has all the atmosphere of the kitchens themselves. There is a wide range of traditional kitchen equipment and food to tempt the palate as well as pewter and copperware that would be a worthy addition to any kitchen.

Guests with disabilities:

Hampton Court Palace is a historic building and, therefore, has uneven surfaces. Most of the routes within the palace are accessible to visitors unable to climb stairs. There is a lift to take visitors to the State Apartments on the first floor. Please ask a warder for assistance. However, for health and safety reasons, only six wheelchairs are permitted on the first floor at any one time. As a consequence, visitors may occasionally have to wait or visit an alternative part of the palace. A comprehensive access guide and quick reference access sheet are available at the Ticket Office or can be downloaded from the links at the bottom of this page.

Manual wheelchairs are available for use within the palace. There are also single person, battery powered chairs for use by palace ticket holders in the gardens. Please ask a warder for assistance.

There are disabled toilet facilities in Base Court, Fountain Court and the Wilderness Garden and in the Tiltyard Tea Rooms. There are no toilet facilities at all on the first floor.

Two of the four shops are accessible to wheelchair users: the Barrack Block Shop and the Garden Shop.

Disabled car parking spaces are available on site.

The video at the start of Henry VIII's State Apartments has a signed and captioned presentation that plays on the hour every hour. Induction loops can be found in the Ticket Office, the palace shops, the Information Centre and the two catering outlets.

Braille guidebooks and copies for those with hearing impairments are available free, on loan, from the Information Centre in Clock Court.

The Chapel Royal:

The Chapel Royal is open to visitors from Monday to Saturday, when recordings of the Chapel organ and choir can be heard. On Sundays visitors are welcome to attend services with the choir at 11.00 and 15.30. For those who do not wish to attend a Sunday service, the Chapel is usually open to visitors between 12.45 and 13.45.

Lost property:

If you lose anything while at Hampton Court Palace, please contact the nearest member of staff. All lost property is held by the Pass Office. Visitors may contact the Pass Office after their visit by telephoning 0870 752 7777 and going through the selections until they reach lost property.
